Are there any guides or methods to clean up a mesh and reroute edge flow?
I often end up up with streched and strangely allinged quads in my mesh, so my question is:
How do I count edges?
How do I clean up messy low poly topology by hand?
In any 3d software.

>Pic: topo turned out okayish, but could be improved on.

hey /3 i have a very serious life changing question that i need your opinions on.
so im graduating from a shitty community college in few months and i wanna take this 3D game seriously, so i really want to continue my education at gnomon school of visual effects and just want to know if you guys think its worth it. i haven't heard anything but good things about it so far. i also been told that gnomon is a grate way to get your foot threw the doors when starting out because of all the contacts and connections you make.
also I watch thair live streams when they do these 4 hour long events where they bring top artists to teach stuff. they had the artists from Riot Games this week talking about importance of 2d in 3d

so is it worth attending?

i know a lot of people say "just be self thought its not that hard" but i kinda feel i'll develop faster and improve my skills better by having a professional point out all the mistakes i make and help me improve my skills face to face rather than just me do it myself and not know if its good or not other than people on the internet just saying "its shit"

Sup /3/.

I am trying to extract a character model from a unity game, and I'm fucking failing.
got the asset files, got the obj files from ninja ripper, got the shaders, the dds files, but this stuff is like chinese common core algebra to me.

So, bounty time. I have DAZ Studio 4 Pro ,Bryce 7 Pro, and Hexagon 2.5.

If someone can help me get this goddamn model done, you can have the software here.

Transferring between CAD and 3d modelling

No.499190 ViewReplyReportDelete
sup /3/ just asking some questions about the possibility of transferring from engineering CAD/CAM over to 3d Modelling

Currently doing an apprenticeship becoming a CAD Technician at a well known company. The course they offer is good and ill get to know the in's and outs of using Solidworks. I have past experience in both Solidworks and Inventor if this makes any difference. My ultimate goal is to somehow learn how to use a 3d modelling program (currently got my eyes set on maya) and design for vidya games in some way or another. I had ideas about applying for somewhere like Autodesk for Inventor, then maybe learning skills with Maya within the company if at all possible.

I have no real experience with 3d modelling software, but I am already very confident with Inventor and Solidworks
