>>132788978its a complicated subject but very little of it comes down to a failure of personal responsibility.
for one, lean meat, vegetables and low fat doctrine is a diet that has been shown to fail. healthy high fat diet with coconut, olive, butter, cream and plenty of meat is better. ask scandinavia. fast food is high carb/high sugar with fat often removed to facilitate storage/freezing/transport.
the biggest barrier to healthy diet is the learning process spent in kitchen, which should be taught in schools but isn't, and the time needed to prepare food. america has been suckered by boardrooms & shareholders to think that 50-100 hour work week should be normal.
and suckered by food industry to think fat is bad but bread and cereal is OK.
in 20 years we will look back in wonder at how we screwed up so badly with health when the solution requires no willpower and allows plenty of satisfying food(not rabbit food), we simply got suckered by the industry to eat cheap grain and soy products.
