The english dub is shit. Why do the subs only go up to episode 22? I read the books when I was a kid, so actually finding out this existed was a pleasant surprise. Finding out that the english dub sucked however... Guh, that was a punch to the stomach.

Also, why is the anime cast so cute? I didn't ask for this.

We stopped subbing it because it got fully dubbed long before we could finish subbing. It was pointless to keep going.

It's a great fantasy anime series, comparable to Lodoss or Berserk.

The next series after Deltora was called Golden Door. It was prequel/spin-off set to the immediate West of Deltora where the Shadow Lord originated.

The series being published right now is called Star of Deltora. From the description, it sounds like a sailing adventure set aboard a cool ship.

I remember the anime.

It was my first experience with AKB48 as they sang the 2nd OP. My first thoughts upon seeing the Boku no Taiyou MV was that 'this is a gimmicky group with too many members, they'll never make it big.'

8 years on, they are one of the top selling artists in Japan with spin-off groups (more like cover groups) in Shanghai and Jakarta as well as a bunch of other sister groups in Japan.

How wrong I was.

To this day, I have to wonder if any of the AKBs read Deltora Quest. I tried to ask /jp/ about it but they were never helpful.

Anime definitely gave the characters a huge re-make in both character design and clothing.

Take Jasmine in the anime for example. She never had green highlights not to mention she's wearing purple leather stilettos. I doubt any Grey Guard or poor traveller who wanders into a forest wears that.

The first book revolves around a monster that eats people alive, there's evil shapeshifters that murder people and steal their faces, there's that slug monster is the latter books. There's plenty of dark shit in the series. It's still YA, but it's definitely down towards the darker end of YA Fantasy. Then the second trilogy has a bunch of people roasted alive by dragons and shit.

Abridged adaptions can be good too. There is no rule that says that abridging a series means you have to change anything in particular, just that you shorten it.
