It kind of seems like a meh event, but Kyoani invited me and is paying for my travel and ticket (completely serious).

Also, I haven't watched any Kyoani since Hyouka, what should I marathon for the next few days?

Not him, but it is actually not unusual for bigger studios (may it be anime or 3dpd) to invite people from e.g. translation groups or main distributors in foreign countries. Since this is the biggest imageboard on this planet it is likely for such a person to look into more info about such an event by asking us.

This being said, I like the KyoAni works but I wouldn't give a shit about such an event. Anon your waifus aren't really going to be there. You know that, right?

Free! If you've seen Hyouka, you've already seen the best KyoAni has had to offer in a number of years - I would watch it again if you haven't in a while.

The newer shows you haven't seen are all copy pastes of each other. The girls are all the sameface but with a different hairstyle. The story revolves around varying degrees of NTR mixed with yuribaiting to make it more palatable for people that hate NTR, but will watch anything with yuri. Sometimes KyoAni adds a dash of CGDCT to make the NTR go down easier as well.

I'm extremely disappointed in how that show turned out, not about the yuri baiting but how much chunni syndrome Reina has about being a special unique snowflake and how Kumiko exists to basically parrot how amazing she is.

I was more interested in the things around Ribbon, Natsuki and Asuka's plots and all of them are 3rd years which means if their is a season 2 we won't be seeing nearly as much of them as before.

Tamako Market and Love Story and Eupho are essential viewing. Then Chuuni S1 and Amagi, then the rest. TLS and Eupho are easily their standout works post Hyouka.

Wouldn't be surprised, the man is the Kojima of anime. Despite all the shit going on about "muh Tokyo" I feel Gatoh will pull through and get KyoAni or at least Takemoto involved somehow. This is the same guy who got us a new FMP after 10 years, he just had an anime done with KyoAni last year, surely he can work his magic again. ALL PRAISE BE TO BASED GATOH.

I 100% understand your complaint, but Reina really is good at what she does, so it's hard to hare her for it. Plus it helps if you know that one of the reasons why Kumiko got so testy in episode 11 was likely because Reina was attaching a trait that Kumiko hates about herself -- that is, being swept along by other people -- onto herself.

Kumiko's "I want to be like you, Mike" scene in episode 12 was a little weird, though. If there is a second season, it would be nice if they focused more on how Kumiko grows without using Reina as a model. It would also be nice to see more of Reina being a dork. Just 'cause.

You didn't read the novels did you? Reina never changes and never talks or hangs out with anyone besides Kumiko and more often than not, Kumiko hangs out with her or by herself after ditching those other girls. It's not like she hates them or anything, she just doesn't care about the things they talk about and that's usually when another character happens upon her and starts pouring their personal business to her because she's developed a rep for being easy to talk to.

Reina is her true friend, Shuchi is her crush and boyfriend at the end, Hibiki and Sapphire are acquaintances and the rest are all jumbled.

It's not that she's a bad person it's just that she has a few special people close to her and doesn't care to add more than she's fine with.
