I mean, you could argue that the ways he was able to make use of his majorly limited abilities to make music that has aged as well as it has is genius. Though more than anything it might just be being used as a sign of respect considering how he ate a shotgun shell and died way before his time.

Why is it that the protagonists suffer in every single chapter of the series?

I mean, at least for Assassination Classroom they don't focus on how brutal the Japanese education system is every waking moment. But here, they might as well have called this series "fuck Japan and its whole the-nail-that-sticks-out-gets-hammered-in philosophy".

Its the whole premise of this manga. There's a crap ton of famous musicians who died at the age of 27. In this manga, you can sign a contract to become famous too, but if you don't make it by 27 you die. A dead musician is assigned as your guiding angel to help you make it.

No, but pretty much all nu-metal is people trying to do what Alice in Chains does and not going a very good job at it. Obvious example is Godsmack literally naming themselves agree a song from Dirt.
