That's true, you don't have to, but you can at least acknowledge why his character is the way he is and that it's not completely unlikable just because it's different. It's like people hate different at times and at other times want the same things.

I think most people miss the point that this is like ancient history rules of war. Enemies are killed, or captured as slaves for medial tasks or baby making / assimilated into the conqueror's society.
They human females could of escaped despite the danger but they didn't, the more realistic result would of been their deaths.
As for the elves, it's happened to their race before, it wouldn't surprise me though if they made a real attempt to escape.
MC is pretty civil kind of evil, considering the elves should of turned out like the first batch of human girls.
