3) I use anki, absolutely. I do an average of 12-ish new words a day because I dislike it and suck at it. So far I have around 6,000 mature cards, and 2,500 kanji.
4) I'm reading Innocent Bullet right now, written by the guy who did Silverio Vendetta, Maxwell, and Vermillion (so it's on the upper end I would imagine). The vocabulary is absolutely crushing, I'm using the texthooker for this no doubt. I posted

There's basically 2 sections in innocent bullet - talking to the girls, which is easy, and MILITARY EXPOSITION FUCK YEAH, which is hard as balls to follow. Every time MC arrives at the military base I shed a single tear. In short harder VNs are still a pain in the ass, unfortunately.
