Little girls are their main source of income, so I don't see how this will help in the big picture. I'm sure they'll get some otaku big friends interested, but I doubt it will lead to anything long-term and sustainable.
This along with the new figures and Figuarts seem to be Bandai's last effort to squeeze as much as they can out of Aikatsu. If the little girls are abandoning ship, then they have to focus their attention on the otaku. Might this change be reflected in the production of the anime? I'm not saying the anime will change drastically, but we'll have to see. If the Aikatsu anime right now is at a Pripara level, then they might bump up to a Rainbow Live level.
