In the treasure island, there is the legendary pirate treasure by flint who is already dead once the story begins.
Flint = Roguer
one of his followers wants the treasure back and inspires a kid who works in a tavern to follow him by lying to him into thinking he is a good guy worth following (same shanks inspiring and convincing luffy to become a pirate instead of a marine)
my theory somehow goes like this.
Shanks is young and follows Roguer and is inspired by him
Roguer is a "D" and probably holds a secret to finding treasure and one piece (voice to hear all things)
Roguer leaves one piece in "that place" but tells no one, shanks gets fucking mad he didnt get his share of the pie and roguer died with the secret.
Shanks however knows Roguer was a "D" so travels the world looking for "D" people in the world to help him get one piece
Shanks finds luffy, he KNOWS he needs his loyalty, gives away his arm. its his bet to find one piece.
Blackbeard is a "D" too and knows shanks plan, shanks probably asked him to help him but blackbeard refused hence they fought and he got the scar.
