I was thinking that in the beginning and middle, but with the flashbacks to how they met and telegraphing the divorce papers that hard, I saw a twist in the works. Else he would have been spoiling his own ending to this huge, drawn out story for no reason.

Many people. If you look back, Senpai is introduced in volume 9 but his usefulness for the plot ends at vol. 18, the ending of the series.

Before Senpai, it was faceless old men so it was going to end in one of two ways. Husband wins her back or losses her to Senpai. There simply couldn't be any other outcome because the author was an idiot and road blocked them selves.

Literally nothing of importance happens between vol 9 - vol 18 other than the waifu getting a healthy sample of Senpai dickings.

I think why people like it a lot, is that it put some effort into the story part of the NTR. It wasn't just sex mind break. The story isn't amazing but it's decent, and when time passes, I'll remember it more for the story than the hot sex scenes. They were kinda shit.
