I know a lot of people on /a/ thinks that live action cinema and anime are completely separate things, but that is simply not true. They have a lot of things in common.
Also having read books and knowing a thing or two about writing and story composition is also important.
And don't forget how important audio composition and music is to a movie/tv series quality.
