/adv/, I have $1000 to get my first legit laptop. I would like to game on it, use FL Studio, and run engineering softwares like solid works and autocad. What should I consider? Any suggestions?

1000 isnt enough for gaming at least at mid to high graphics settings and a decent frames per second. Plus engineering applications and games require two different types of gpus workstation and gaming gpus respectively. Although you can get custom bios for either to work as the other.

Not going to happen on your budget. If you want a laptop that doesn't make you want to kill yourself while running games/engineering shit $1000 isn't enough. That is if you can't find a deal on a used one.

for like 200 dollars more, you can purchase a 1200 gaming laptop. Lenovo y50-70 that can play any game right now on ultra except for maybe witcher 3 and some of the total war games. But its stronger than ps4 and xbox one. Only problem i have had with it are the hinges because now i cant close my laptop, or they will break, I think my laptop just has defective hinges though.

I actually took an autocad class, and ran autocad 2014 on it with absolutely not issues.
