I'm sure you'd never lie, I'm sure you'd NEVER want to get him in trouble, but I've seen so many people say things like that, and then turn around completely as soon as their feelings get hurt.
You might feel like this would be all about giving up control, giving him all the power, but in reality it's the opposite. It gives YOU a tremendous amount of power over him, because the narrative of "how I got my black eye" is completely up to you.
