This is starting to get the best of me, I don't know what to do. On the positive side I'm starting college in Spring and have started working out but besides that I really have no idea what to do with my life and how to fill my days.

It's not really the lack of a partner that's bothering me, it's just an emptiness that crept up on me out of nowhere the last few days. I'm genuinely excited to start college up, I'm going to start out studying math because I really enjoy it while I decide on a major.

My mom sold her car and I gave her mine (she bought it for me anyways) and since then I've barely been going out. I used to go out grocery shopping, but that was pretty much it. We're moving soon and she's getting a new car so I'm getting mine back, but I just feel kind of lost. Even if I had my car right now I wouldn't know what to go out and do. I dropped all my friends because all we would do is hangout at each others' houses and smoke weed, and I didn't want to be part of that life style. I've been sober for a year now.

I was thinking I could just workout and do my usual thing while I'm still in this city, and when I move make new friends and actually start going o. Starting college will help because it will get me out of the house 4 days a week. I was thinking Meetup.com could be helpful. And I don't go on /r9k/, I used to a year back or so but it was just too depressing and a vicious cycle of self-loathin. I don't hate myself, I'm just not liking feeling lost about what to do in life and not having a career or any income to speak of.

You seem like a pretty nice normal guy, so I'm sure you'll be fine one way or another. It's a waiting game, life, sometimes. It takes a lot of time to where you want to be, and most people give up about where they want to be unless you're really dedicated.

So, be dedicated.

Yeah it was fucking boring man. I had a group of friends in high school who did the same thing. I thought if I got a different group it would change but it was the same old, had 2 different groups of friends since I graduated in 2011 who just smoked weed, listened to music and played video games. I need to pick better friends this time around tbh, especially since I've been sober for a while now.

Hey, I hope it gets better for you, I'm sure you'll find someone else when you've had time to heal for a bit. It just fucked with my head today, I woke up at noon and have been reflecting on playing too much video games and 4chan and I just had this overriding feeling of dread.

You're right though, it's good to be patient. I live in a suburb of LA county. It's still pretty hot out and I could ride my bike to the beach, but I'm still a bit self-conscious about my body so I've been working out to lose weight and get more defined. I've noticed a ton of people smoke weed around here, it's very common in people around my age and it honestly lowers your drive for success. Some of my old friends have even turned to meth.

I've been awake for 4 hours now and I don't feel as bad as before.
