Ok long story short :

>met this girl a few months ago
>hit it off right away
>the more I learn about her, the more I want to get to know her
>she is introverted and shy
>but she has a heart of gold
>10/10 everything etc

but now, her sister just got arrested, probably for a drug related crime, and she is, since this afternoon, taking care of her nephew ( the father was deported a while ago)

The poor kid is only 7 years old, and me and my gf are in the first half of our 20's. So far, we don't know anything about what's gonna happen. Best case scenario, someone more mature and stable in the family can take care of him. Alas, there is also the possibility of her taking care of him.

In such a situation, how do I show myself as a good exemple for a kid who only saw gangster and drug-dealer so far in his life. I know that if nobody bring him back on track, school won't either. Hell he might even envision this futur for himself, commiting crime and maybe even violence.

I know I am a good person and so is my gf, I'm just really at lost on how to be there for him in a way that doesn't push him away or make him feel forced to ''be more like us''

Any tips on anything is appreciated, so is constructive critisism, please refrain for unneed negativity.
