I'm livid /adv/. Here's why.
When I graduated HS I obviously didn't get any scholarships and finished with just above average grades but nothing special. My strict parents (who are plenty wealthy enough, we're upper middle class for sure) said they weren't paying for a university and they were going to pay for a community college. I can transfer to any university after my associates, with scholarships and whatnot.
Overall I was pissed at first but I've come to appreciate not getting hand-outs like a lot of spoiled kids. I'm in my 2nd semester and will (hopefully) get a scholarship to a big name university and move on from there.
The problem is, my little brother is getting full paid four semesters at that same big university. In fact, this is the most prestigious university in the state. Its up there with ivy league schools.
My dad has no control anymore. When I left, my mom and brother (who have always sided together) took control. My little brother is a mommas boy and always has been.
We met for lunch and we got into it. Her arguement is "he's more passionate" (read: he whined and cried more than me)
My dad just stared with that somber look of a failed parent. Didn't even attempt to back me up because it was useless. I'm a tad bit pissed he isn't sticking up for me but I know how tough it was when I was there. Now he has no one.
/adv/ I need to know what to do. I can look my mother in the eye and she knows its not right. Its obvious. But she has to please him.
There is no forgiveness for this. None. He's gotten a nicer car than mine, almost 15K more than mine. I pay for my gas and insurance and everything. He pays for nothing. He gets gas money and whatnot. He hasn't worked a day in his life, and ive worked since I was 16. He has always gotten expensive gifts, laptops video games every week, whatever he wants he says the words and gets it.
I put up with all that. I can live with that. But something as big as college? I can't /adv/. This is too far.
