What are your opinions of tinder? I always am so off put by tinder, but I don't know why. I feel I can't trust people who use the app.

Sure there are lots of people on there that you can't trust. But there are also relatively normal people

I'm a normal medfag and had just moved to a new city... Went on there and met a grill who was from a town near my old one, and had also just moved to the city. She just had a city job and was also completely normal

We were together ~18 months... Until I had to move again (the untold 'joys' of being a medfag)

For me it has worked great in meeting interesting girls. You need some decent pic and such. I browse fir a certain type of girl and usually when i think "this one might go somewhere" on the swipe, i end up being right.
I like to see tinder as a pub, a match means no more than eye contact, after which you have to introduce yourself and such. Don't expect miracles.
That said it has the advantage of being a fucking huge crowded pub minus the expensive drinks and annoying guys, all to be enjoyed from the comfort of your couch.
You have the chance to get to know eachother a little before allowing stuff like body language to become a disturbing factor.
Beware of cute 18y/olds though, they look great, but they're completely vapid and impossible to conversate with.
It's not limited to quick hookups or whatever, but you don't expect to find your wife in the pub tonight either (though you might....)

I hate how it's gone annoying with nagging for payed version though, which sucks as i really like tinder the way it was. I hope bumble gets some leverage soon.

I'd recomend investing in a proper propane grill, consider one of the wagner brand.

Well, the market for swipe based matching has been established, and with tinder becoming crappier and crappier, it can only be a matter of time till a competitor gains leverage right.... THey don't even have to replace tinder, just provide some incentive to keep tinder sharp. That, or some kind of adblock-like hack.

As a female, I personally avoid it. I get a shit ton of matches, but then I get a barrage of cheesy pick up lines that really sound like they got it off virgins on 4chan. A simple hi, how are you' is bloody sufficient. And I just found a lot of them purposefully posing with babies and puppies just to attract girls which is totally try hard. Not to mentioned idiotic bios. I just can't with Tinder, face to face is my preference.

I don't talk to the majority of my matches, I just use it to pass time and have fun some.

I constantly remove it and re add it, fun to kill the time nothing more though

That said, I've found out that nearly all of my guy friends use Tinder, and they're ok guys. I've met girls who I got to know and like and it turns out they use Tinder. And it increasingly seems to be used for actual dating, rather than just hookups. So maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's just a reflection of our culture, and will become a big party if how relationships are made in the future.

Irl the first reason to talk to someone is also looks, then you get to know eachother. It's not like a match is an instant date or anything. I'm usually quite familiar with my dates before meeting them. Also a picture shows way more than someones body, it's how they want to portray themselves and this does indicate quite a bit about ones personality.

That's not necessarily the case for me. Physical attraction grows out of someone's personality, so that a girl who I initially wasn't that attracted to can become beautiful once I get to know things about her, and a girl I initially thought was stunning can come to look quite plain if I realise there's nothing to her personality.

I take your point about profile pictures giving out more information than just how a person looks though.

Why?
7% of tinder users are between 13-17. Its very likely your children will get their first girl/boy friend form tinder.

Get one neat pic, one in which you look handsome, can be in suit but mind what girls that may attract. Max one party/group pic but not more and not as first pic. One that shows you doing something you're passionate bout.
Don't only swipe models, go for the ones you feel have common interests with.

Yeah im the end it has to be a complete package. I to get put off by shallow girls even when i initially found 'm gorgeous. Likewise girla who don't initially draw attention (look about average) gain my favour when they turn out to be nice persons. On tinder this happens a lot as well, especially now that likes are limited. An initial qt goes left when she has only party pics and an initial "'mkai" may end up becoming a favourite cuz of a music pic, a certain attitude or some intrigueong bio.
Also, if i didn't feel like being able to pick out my type i wouldn't have bothered.

And off course out of all the matches only a few i talk to and only some of those are deemed worthy of becoming whatsapp contact and eventually irl. Only the initial step looks based and still less than one may think.
I see how it's easy to call that shallow and such when it's not your thing, but as a guy in aa nerd profession and hate for pub scene, it's provided me with deeper connections than anything else.
Except perhaps fetlife...

I think you're better off not using it, OP. You can try it if you're really curious, but in general it's a huge waste of time for guys. I used it for a period of time and it mostly just made me feel like shit having maybe 1 in 100 girls like me, and none of them to my taste nor responding to messages. It's completely shallow, and there's nothing more repelling than girls who have hundreds of guys messaging her at any moment so she can get a self-esteem boost.

Using it for hook ups (risky) or just to have fun judging people with your friends is way I usually see it being used. I don't know any people who got a serious, worthwhile relationship out of it.
