Does anyone here have experience negotiating? I've always been pretty bad at it and I'm going to be figuring out rent with my future roommates in a couple days. Basically we decided to rent a house together (currently in college) and we're trying to figure out how to split the rent so that its fair since the rooms are all different sizes.
The main issue right now is that me and another guy both want a certain, nicer room and there's a much smaller room that no one really wants. The main idea right now is that we'll price them differently so that the better rooms are more expensive. Ideally, I could either get the good room with my budget, or get the small room and have a lot left over. But I'm still worried I'll get screwed over and end up in the small room paying too much for rent. Any tips for negotiating well, not getting myself stuck in a shitty situation?
Pic related, layout of the first floor. The Study is the shitty room, the better room is on the second floor.
