>>16403873I usually do hour blocks, but I'm really flexible about it. I drive pretty much wherever the parents are comfortable. Sometimes it's the library, sometimes it's their house.
I'm taking 18 credit hours so, it's hard to fit too many student in though.
9.27 does seem a bit low. I charge 15 - 20 depending on how much driving I have to do. I charge 10 for a half hour usually just to make the math easier.
Thing is, most of the time I tell parents, my range is 15-20 and I'd be willing to negotiate lower if needed. When I offer 15 because of a short drive, Every single parent I've dealt with turned down my offer for 15 and said they'd pay 20, non-negotiable.
I do prep work outside of tutoring time, so I thought initially 15-20 was pretty fair.
Also, during Christmas time, I tell most parents not to worry about paying. I've had a few families instead of not paying, give me a large bonus and insist on me taking it even after I refuse. One family gave me 100 dollars and a bag of cookies the week before Christmas.
I never realized parents would be so adamant about paying.
I usually work with high school and lower too, I've tutored some college students. I general don't enjoy doing that though. Most of the time I get calls from college student who've missed class or are desperate on a short time scale. Obviously, some people genuinely are seeking help, but I feel as if the college students I've had just want me to give them the answers.
