Financially speaking, if what you're saying about being 4/10 and able to get to 8/10 is true, it's actually a sound investment and the earlier you do it the better. Better looking means more success in interviews and faster promotions.
However, if you're just suffering from some sort of dismorphia or low self-esteem, no amount of plastic surgery is going to fix you and you're better off spending the money on a therapist. You'll end up looking like Michael Jackson and you'll have wasted a fortune.
I don't think plastic surgery is necessarily harmful, but going under the knife is always risky and you need to assess whether or not it's really worth it.
What's the actual procedure you're looking to undergo? Nose job? Jaw reshaping? Scar removal? Dental?
