What's the best response to "are you going to be mad at me forever"? We're married and poor so I can't just yet say "I'm not mad, I'm free" and walk out the door. I stopped talking to my spouse yesterday because for the third time they unprovoked called me a dipshit in front of our children and in public while I was trying to discuss something very important to our relationship, namely, how they should discuss life-changing events (new job that would require them to use the car way more often) with me before their mother and best friend. They get defensive without being attacked and start name-calling, trying to turn the issue around onto me, then try to cuddle and act like nothing happened the next morning. Fuck that.
