Finally....
She's living at home with her mom, who's a six-foot-tall short-haired lesbian Lieutenant in the local Fire Department (she apparently commands a Fire Engine & crew), who divorced her dad for... some reason I never bothered to find out, I'm guessing "incompatibility."

Bummer is, she's a dog person with two awesome dogs, she loves to run, she's tall, thin, has a pretty face with nice dsl, etc....

But, yes, I'm not replying at all.

You don't understand. That isn't the reason. I had a really close friends in college, higschool, and middleschool. We were inseparable; hung out played vidya and etc. Went to plays, down to the river and fished. Everyone just told me to ask her to be my gf, but I knew it would end badly. SO things just kinda got more and more ambivalent.

I knew as soon as I asked the question it was going to kill my soul and a friendship... but I did it anyways. I got this response, "not looking for more then a friendship." Things became distant between, and eventually cut off.

This hit at right at the same period where my distant father died. I've never felt more alone in my life then that period. I still feel guilty for asking about it to this day. Losing a crush is one thing.
But losing a best friend just sucks. Sometimes you just can't help how you feel though.

Honestly, I don't even know how I feel about this topic. I kinda just can it, and recite it objectively in my mind. It's not the end of the world, but it's a lie if I don't say the line op mentions is one I resent.

Obviously, my whole situation is a cliche, but still I'm sure it's relate able. I'm sure some of you will also call me a beta, but that wasn't really the problem. I just understood what our friendship was, but couldn't help but make things beyond awkward.

So all in all, I guess you're right. We don't deserve it, or anything from a woman. That isn't to say it doesn't hurt us when it happens. Sometimes we have feelings that just develop, and you'd probably feel the same way.

Your situation sounds very different. OP went for someone who clearly had multiple problems, and was not at all dating material. Maybe he didn't know until after the date, but even then sounds like he should have cut it short and then blocked her as soon as he left.
