I've definitely gone on dates with girls because they just asked, and it was novel enough and I respected their courage enough that I thought, fuck it, why not. Actually, my girlfriend asked me out first (though in her case, I was about to ask her out anyway, and she just beat me to the punch by seconds).
I've also had girls who've tried being hyper aggressively flirty to the even the extreme degree that they'd literally try to drag me in to their bed or try to shove their hands down my pants. Total turn off. (I seem to be the type of guy that somehow get's super attractive to drunk people <.<)
Those are two completely different things that come from completely different places. The former is a straightforward and refreshing feeling. The latter feels sleazy and desperate.
