i had a take home midterm in one of my math courses, and on the last problem, i used math.stackexchange to start my proof. instead of handing back the midterms today, the professor said she caught two people cheating off the same website which was the 'first google result'. when i checked after class, the page was the first result on google when i typed in the problem.
so now i have the opportunity to turn myself in before class on wednesday. she said something about giving anyone that comes forward a 0 on the test, instead of F for the course and reporting them to the head of the department. anyone know how to go about this? pretty fucking shitty to be at the mercy of a bunch of academics.
