The packaged was tracked and it was indeed shipped to a real house. I looked up the address and got the names of the people living there and the land line number, but the number was disconnected. I then called all of the neighbors I could but they were mostly assholes and hung up on me.

My ebay account is linked to my paypal, so I figured when I accept offers on ebay, it'd be automatically cleared with paypal. I thought that was the whole point of linking the accounts
I'm going to file a police report tomorrow with prints of the messages and the address.

I know I was careless, but I don't typically sell things on ebay and assumed it wasn't that easy to scam people.
What else should I do? I live in Indiana, and the package is in Chicago, so it's actually about a four hour drive away.

It was a $300 item which is a bummer because I'm a full time student and that's over a whole month's rent for me. I get that I'll probably never get that money, but I would at least like to get this asshole in trouble. This probably isn't his first time.
