I don't think it's the first love you should be worried about specifically- it's ANY great love. I mean, an old boyfriend of mine that I was ALSO very close with after we broke up, died unexpectedly 2 years ago. He & I had a much deeper love than #1, and was always a 'maybe one day'. I still cry everyday over the loss of him, it was jarring. HE is who I'm scared will always be in my heart.
But this fear you have- if you aren't the love of their life, it won't work out anyway. Don't worry yourself anon; first loves hold no favor over others when it really matters. I hope you're someone's GREAT & forever love.
