it's impossible to fathom but just try and imagine being on earth 800 years from now. imagine the horror that would befall you realizing it never ends and life continues infinitely. what if it was impossible to die? do you see how this can become way more frightening then "oh one day i'll have a heart attack and thatll be it, i'll suffer a short intense pain and then be dead"

Read any of the Bushido works or Miyamoto and meditate on them. I would oversimplify but their constant possibility of death lead to their celebration of the tiniest moments of life, ie allegory of how sweet the fruit at hanging from tree. Keep your affairs neat and orderly so if quietus comes upon you u do not regret having told some one you loved them.

I think about the callers from the towers on 911 and the doomed planes: what mattered to them in the face of death? That others knew how much they loved them. Love leads to attachment which makes death more painful but at same time it seems knowledge that one is loved and loves back brings some consolation, if not "embracing"
