Whoa. OP, you may have actually found the only case when it is ever OK to ask someone out a second time after being told no once. By all means, ask her again, but NOT until you are sure the challenge is over (i.e. wait a month, so that even if she only started today, it should still be over by then).

And yes, I realize that there is a chance that the challenge is BS, and that she's just hoping you will lose interest in a month. Play it straight anyway: this kind of thing should not be encouraged.

It's probably BS unless she just got out of a relationship and is waiting before getting back into dating.

I say bring it up but wait at least a couple months. Don't make it seem like you've been waiting, just ask how she's been doing lately and if anything interesting happened and bring it up after that
