So I got my Late 2012 Mac Mini i5 a nice SSD and installed it in onto the place of the old HDD. Installation went fine and after booting I got greeted with the classic "no OS" screen. Rightfully so I Formatted the Disk to OSX Journaled and then to booted into network recovery and auto-downloaded Mountain Lion and subsequently El Capitan. Everything's nice and fast; time to migrate some of my old shit from the original internal HDD to the new clean SSD with my trusty cable (exactly like pic related, but with a separate power cable)
I plug the fucker in and get "Can't mount disk. Eject, Ignore, Format?"
Okay - strange. I was expecting for the disk image to appear into my desktop.
I open Disk Utility and see my SSD and a drive that consists of 500GBs of "Untitled"
Tried with another computer, same deal.
I've used the cable with many other internal Mac HDDs, but this one acts strangely. What's the deal? Is there some catch I don't know about? Do I need a new special cable or is the data gone forever?
