Backstory: So I'm currently living on campus at school but am looking to get an apartment for next fall. I've got a good friend on campus with me that I went around looking at possible places to live next year with. We've both been doing research and narrowed down our choices. Before we started doing this, someone he kinda knew had asked him to be the 4th person in a 4 person suite style apartment that's really pretty nice. Relatively cheap and fully furnished with all utilities included. I was looking at the same place with him.

Today he decided he would room with the people he kinda knows instead of me, whom he's been good friends with for 5 years, because neither of us are very social and he wants to meet new people. I asked him if he'd room with me and two other random guys in the same exact building his future roommates are in and he said no. Basically he implied that he didn't want to room with me because I'll keep him from making friends.

First question: Am I reading too much into this?
Second question: If I'm right to be a little upset, is there anything I can do to change his mind? It's definitely cheaper rooming with another dude and I really don't want to room with entirely random people.
