So, I coach a club sport at a university. This is the first real club sport the university has had, so there are no guidelines in place of how a club sport is run on campus. As a result, student government has been giving me a by semester stipend for my time coaching.
However, some of the students in SGA are assholes and have "decided" to input a policy that says they will not pay for a coach for a club sport. Their reasoning is, they want student government dollars to go to things the students get (as if the service I provide does not go to the student body.) I really like coaching the team, but gas and car insurance are not free and I commute 20 minutes 3-4 nights a week to do this. Any thoughts as to what I can do here to receive proper compensation from the school? I have emailed the dean of students (she oversees SGA) and she has told me that she does not think there is anything she can do because it is an SGA policy.
