>>16406618If you are only bringing in $1344 combined, really your max rent should only be around $400, if you don't want to be broke and stressed all the time. Keeping your rent to about 30% of your net means you will still have enough for utilities, food, savings, and a little bit for fun things (they don't have to be expensive, maybe just Netflix). And you will absolutely need savings, for when your car breaks down, or you get sick, or if one of you loses your job for a while or your hours get cut.
Honestly if you want to move out I suggest getting a room in a house, that should be cheaper. You will be pretty miserable paying almost 50% of your income just for rent. Right now my husband isn't working and rent is about 39% of my income without his help, and it's brutal. Paying for electricity, internet for his schoolwork, car insurance, and food for two people will just make anything you have left just vanish. No money for anything besides the bare essentials, nothing fun, and if there is any kind of emergency you're fucked.
