So my crush just called me an asshole after texting her a funny, but offensive joke. Her response was "you're an asshole" and after I admitted that it was not the best joke to make she still hasn't responded. How bad did I Fuck up?

She's made an offensive joke to me once before so I thought she'd find it funny so I feel likening messed up but I also feel like She's a hypocrite.

The only way she'd be a hypocrite in this situation is if the type of joke you told her was in the same category. For example, if she made a nigger joke, and you made a nigger joke, she'd be a hypocrite to be offended by it. However, if she told you a nigger joke, and you told her joke about how women are idiots, those two things aren't equal. You dig? She'd take that personally because she might think you were subtly insulting her.

Not all jokes are equal, which is why humor can be dangerous. You never know what somebody's limit is. If it's edgy, you need to be completely sure it falls into their comfort zone before trying it out on them. Clearly she was able to make that evaluation about you when she told her joke, but you may not have fully understood her comfort zone when you told yours. This is pretty typical. Guys tend to not get offended/give a fuck, whereas girls do.

I didn't apologize but I acknowledged that it might not have been the best joke.

The joke she told me wasn't really a joke. We were talking about religion and she asked what I was and I told her I didn't really think about religion much but I'm not going to outright deny anything so I guess I'm agnostic. She said that agnostic is a pussy mans atheist or something like that. I laughed it off.

The joke I told her was about mental capacity and she took offense. So what I'm getting from her is that she can be highly offensive but I have to tip toe around her girly feelings. If she's acting up when I see her in class I'm going to put her on the spot

I think you may spend too much time on 4chan where words like "autist" are commonplace, but in actually, in the real world, it's pretty fucking offensive, disrespectful, and insensitive because it's a real disability, that real people have, not some insult you fling at people who don't agree with your opinion.

Given the way she responded, odds of her knowing someone who is ACTUALLY retarded--as in mentally slow due to disease, birth defect, or damage--and who has to deal with being picked on, looked down upon, and taken advantage of, and then you go making light of them.

She said it was a pussy move because you basically that you're half-assing your religious decisions because you're too afraid to pick one and commit. You made fun of people who already have it hard (and by proxy-- maybe even someone she personally knows).

There's a difference there.

Yea she made fun of him for his religious choice and religion is a highly controversial topic. I usually stay away from religion and politics when making jokes. From the sound of it, either she's being hypocritical or OP is not telling up the full story. I don't see how she can get offended by a joke if she has insulted him in the past.

She's a female and they aren't always the logical species. From the sounds of it, she may have some feelings for you.
