So I'm going to an agency soon to look for a part time job. What can I expect? Will it really be as simple as me telling them what I want, what field, handing them my CV and them telling me to fuck off and that they'll contact me with opportunities? Cause that'd be great, I don't wanna be sitting around for hours.

Look for contract jobs that say "temp to hire" or just temp. You will be put through a staffing agency automatically and maybe even be paid through them rather than the client company.

Be careful though, the online recruiting game is pretty scammy. A lot of people will auto-subscribe you to stuff and contact you out of the blue after doing random keyword searches for your resume.

Thanks, I've been trying online and got some interest, but turned out I didn't actually meet the requirements. So my mum's pressuring me to go down in person, hence why I'm doing this shit. Otherwise I'd keep going online like a normal person.

If you're just straight up unemployed and need a job then do what I did and get lunch or a drink somewhere and ask an employee if their hiring. 9/10 times they will know whether they are or not.

I got my last job at a restaurant and started within a few days because they had been desperate and I just asked someone. Met the owner the day of while eating lunch.

I don't really waste time with it when they say they are always accepting applications unless I really really want to work there, like as a career.
