Horrible Pet Owner Thread

!pVgqzkeZ3M No.1987778 ViewReplyReportDelete
HPO thread, and questions about people around you who are HPO.

Few stories that I've shared a couple times the last few years here

>Worked at mom and pa pet store.
>Very nice, educated people, taught me a lot.
>One lady comes in a lot. She has an all white dog. To this day I can't remember if it was a maltese, shih tzu, etc.,
>Regular customer. Always asks us dumb basic questions, assume she's just misinformed and old.
>One day comes in.
> "Do you guys have whitening shampoo? Is that a thing?"
> Spend about 30 minutes in the shampoo aisle helping her pick out a hypo allergenic whitening shampoo
> "I tried bleaching him but it didn't work"
> "You...you bleached your dog, like clorox?"
> "Yea?..."
Had to give a lecture why bleach is harmful to skin, an especially harmful to dogs and animals
I had to walk away when she saw no real issue with it.

>Elementary school.
>8-13 (this went on for years)
>House beside school had this beautiful, beautiful husky.
>Owner was a real scum bag.
>Locked him outside every day, rain, snow, +100, or -20.
>Dog's diet was mainly rotten pears from a pear tree, and food the kids threw over the fence.
>Owner would kick his dog, slap and punch it regularly in front of us.
>Grade 8 - 13 years old.
>Dog is looking sicker and sicker.
>Sneak food every day.
>Beg parents to call animal control.
>They do.
>Dog has a house, and access to water so no problem in their books.
>Continues for months. Guy removes the grass in his backyard, dog is standing in mud all day. Surrounded by piles of shit.
>Friend and I try to steal dog one day after school.
>Owner puts lock on fence
>One day come out for recess, horrible smell.
>See that the dog is dead.
>Looks strangled on it's own leash.
>Twf the only love and attention it got was through the bars of a fence, and sandwiches from kids who felt very badly for it.

URGENT

No.1988518 ViewReplyReportDelete
My dog is about 13 or 14 years old now. She's been losing teeth for maybe the past 6 months, and now she cannot control her bladder. She's peed on the floor 3 or 4 times today alone, not to mention the times prior to this.

My mom just said "I don't wanna put her down but..." and I said "you're considering killing the dog 'cause she's peeing on the floor?"

We cannot afford a surgery for her bladder or anything like that. I'm not going to let her get put down like this, but if we bring her to a vet, what will they say/do?
Also, does anyone have any experience with this? I really don't want to lose another pet to something like this.

Aside from the peeing, she seems to have some kind of cataracts in her eyes(clouded and blue) but she still runs around the yard sometimes(she's capable of running) and knows her name, etc.

SOS.

Can animals think they're human?

No.1988542 ViewReplyReportDelete
Is it possible for animals to think like us and try to act like us?

Pic is of my cat Zac. He's one of the strangest cats I've had who acts as though he's human.

He meows with certain tones when talked to, he prefers to sleep with his head on a pillow in a bed, he tries to open doors with both his paws (sometimes successful), he watches TV in my dad's chair, he purposely trolls everyone by walking in front of them and sitting down right as they catch up, he literally sits his butt down on the other cats as if they were a chair and he brings random objects to me as a gift and if he hears me say I'll throw it away, he quickly hides it so I can't.

Maybe I'm overthinking it or something, but I am curious if anyone else thinks so or also has a pet that acts a certain way.
