Hey, what does /an/ think of my leopard gecko setup?
1mx0.5x0.5, the substrate is clay. Currently my humidity is too high (because of the clay), but I try to get it down by opening the whole terrarium for a few minutes every day, however it does not really matter right now as she is shedding anyways.
I know you prefer UTH, I got one as backup plan, the guy at the store reassured me however that the lamp is fine as well (the rock has a temp of 32-34ish °C with the lamp on, 20-22°C cold side. If I'm not satisfied with the lamp, the UTH is available in 1 minute.)
Where shall I put my moist hide? Warm or cold side? (currently really not needed, see above,will add in 2 days)
I still need to put in a dish for constant Calcium supply. Shall I move the water dish to the warm side?
And shall I get another branch that goes up way higher?
Sorry for the shitty quality, I just finished everything, I'll provide a daytime pic tomorrow.
Another thing, is it fine when I shine the light from ca 8/9 am til 17/18 pm right now over the winter? it gets dark pretty soon already...
Shall I start offering him food tomorrow already,or shall I just wait 1 whole week?

20 is a bit on the low side, but if you still have your heater on it should be fine, as long as the air is the right temperatures in the cage.

I'd definitely get more branches and stuff though, it looks fairly flat, if you can afford the setup you can afford a few bits to make it interesting. you're wasting the vertical space you've got.

This was probably... early 2000's I couldn't have been any older than 10 or 11
That gecko lived in terrible conditions due to a combination of me being so young, and my parents not giving a shit/just going along with whatever petsmart told us.

god it was on sand, in a mesh cage, and didn't have any hides
It probably a good thing that it died when its caged got knocked off the table.

After that though I just kind of kept whatever i could catch and eventually release after a week or two. Some bluebellies, a gopher snake, a king snake, and a couple garters.

Now that I'm a relatively well adjusted adult that can do research, I've got me a Ball python and time and space permitting, want to get a Blue tongue skink.

I used to catch garter snakes and little poisonous salamanders when I was 8. I kept them in a pencil box.

Now I keep reef tanks.

Started out with a ball python when I was 12, 9 years later I now have 7 snakes with an 8th one coming in a few weeks. I knew I was lost as soon as I got my first BRB and was still looking for more, which was snake #4.

Current collection (including the incoming snake) sits at: 1 ball python, 2 garter snakes, 2 BCI, a reticulated python, and 2 BRBs.

The most difficult snake I've added thus far is my reticulated python. She's not so difficult right now, as she's 4'-4.5' atm, but she's gonna get big fast despite the fact she most likely was stunted. The person I bought her from was feeding her mouse fuzzies every 2 weeks even though she should have been eating rat pups, so she's 1'-2' shorter than she should be as a yearling.

This is my favorite snake atm, a sunglow poss het anery girl. She's growing rapidly, grew ~4" already in the 2 months I've had her.

It's a little... boring. Put some rocks and potted succulents in it and spice it up a little.

Make sure you have a humid hide with some damp sphagnum moss in it, too.

I got my first reptile at 2 AM in a subway station in Philly. Two men approached me and told me that I was buying a turtle and it was 30 bucks. I told them I didn't really want a turtle and they let me know it was not optional, so I gave them all the money I had on me and they shoved the turtle in my hands and left.

I ended up giving it away to a neighbor with a pond who kept RES turtles. I really don't like turtles.

The first amphibian I got at age 4 when my mom decided I was responsible enough for it. It was a fire belly newt who I named Hot. On the day I got it I dumped in half a container of dried bloodworms to "feed" it and it died. I cried like a little bitch and the next day my mom went out and got Hot 2. That thing managed to live a bit over a year in a shitty critter keeper in about an inch and a half of water that I don't remember ever changing. RIP Hot 1 and 2.

Its weird to try to explain it. When a lizard is "bored" it doesn't do anything and its not necessarily a bad thing, but adding stuff to their tank for them to explore or smell makes them more active and makes them more interactive.

I don't think I've ever seen a lzard get up and look for something to do, if thats what you're asking.

I would wait until all the scabbing is gone to feed. I'm sure her skin stretching to accommodate food would tear it while it's still healing. Once the scabbing is gone and it's just scar tissue there shouldn't be a risk of it tearing.

I doubt it would kill her, but it would lengthen the healing process.

There's really no reason to handle reptiles at all, especially geckos because handling can cause them to drop their tails. They don't need to get "used to you". If you want it to not be terrified of you, you could try using tweezers to offer it food at first, then try to feed from your hand. My little geckos will dart up to my hand, lick off a little honey or repashy, then dart away. Very cute.

If you want him to get used to you continue doing regular tank maintenance like spot cleaning, refilling water bowl,moistening moist hide. Even put your hand in the tank for 5 minutes where he can see it, Sooner or later he will figure out you are not a threat and will not sprint away when he sees you.

agreed with all of that. and also, part of the reason leos are popular pets is that they are very inquisitive, as geckos go. most of them will watch you and want to know what you're up to. you can play peek-a-boo with them; sit in front of tank them crouch down so they can't see you from current angle, watch as little head pokes up against the glass to see where you went.

just leave your hand in tank for a few minutes, eventually leo will come out and explore it, lick it, climb on then climb off, climb under, lick some more, etc. they get very relaxed when they are two to three years old.

It seems to depend on the particular leopard gecko. I've heard otherwise from many people, including one case of a leo dropping it's tail because someone made a loud sound in the room next to it. YMMV.

She won't come up to the front, but if she sees me from her hide, she sticker head out to meet me, and if I move to the other of the on the other side of her big rock where she can't see me, she go around to meet me.

They can do a lot of damage with their teeth.

A tame iguana will tolerate being handled.

They get massive and have massive wet slimy shits.

My iguana house trained himself. He walks around the house at his leisure (I live in the tropics) and he goes back to his terrarium to poop.

not recommended but if you like Godzilla lizards they are worth the effort, time and money.

Added a lot of things, I can provide a pic over the next days. She now has 1 moist, 2 cold and 2 warm hides, and she can climb a little bit (still not that much however).
I offered her food this evening, she is really new AND shedding, still ate a dusted roach.
How do you do it when recovering food? I added 4 roaches total, so I was trying to catch the other 3 after 15 minutes of being in there, but it took some time. Doesn't that stress her too much, especially at the beginning? I was thinking about feeding her worms for one month, then I'd just have to remove/replace one dish apart from the water, it would be much faster.

I think I'll let her in for 1 month now (she has been living for 2 years on sand at the shop), until she is a better eater, and then take her out for a few hours to add even more clay to the sand, some parts are really rock solid and can be vacuum cleaned free from loose sand. My goal is to get the whole thing that solid.

She'll be my second BRB, I've had my male for about a year now. Boa constrictors and BRBs are my favorite species to own so far, in that order. BRBs are beautiful, but they're a little small compared to boa constrictors, and I like bigger snakes. But their beauty definitely secures them the second place.

Here's a recent photo of my male. These guys grow soooo slow. I've seen BRBs here and there that grow really fast, and some that are twice the size he is at the same age, but in general this slow of growth seems the norm. Ugh. They don't seem to gain the bigger sizes (4'+) until 2-3 years of age. Which is another drawback, but not too awfully bad.

He's half a foot longer than my BCI, but looks way smaller than her.

anon here who decided to keep a baby gecko that had gotten into my bathroom for the winter.
His crickets I ordered finnaly arrived(i was catching fruit flies that come if I dont clean the dishes for 3 days) I had totally forgotten I gave my cricket carrier to my nephew for fishing though, I currently have 1k 1/8th of an inch banded crickets inside a large picke jar I cleaned out. that sounds like a small space, but they're crickets so i doubt its that bad. Just make sure they have food so they dont eat each other i guess

on a side note its nightmarish how many crickets are on my floor right now.
I had ripped open a spot in the box while pulling the tape off trying to find the opening and they started running out before I had anything ready.
ended up dumping them into a big plastic storage container and shoveled them out of there into the jar

Hey I'm looking for some advice on tortoises and calcium supplements.

I used to go out picking weeds, wash them, then sprinkle calcium over them in the tortoise table, this seemed to work fairly well. However it's not winter and I'd been growing a lot of weeds elsewhere which I have just transferred into her table so they're growing live for her to browse on rather than picked. So how do you incorporate calcium into that? Calcium powder won't really stick to them.

She does have cuttlefish in the table so should I just not bother with the calcium powder and let her graze the growing weeds and cuttlefish as she likes?

Give it some more time 5 days isn't enough to start worrying a snake won't eat. You want to give it 1-2 weeks to settle in before offering. Unless you're feeding rat pinkies, I'd give it something a bit larger than that.

Offer again a week after you last offered and do what you normally do. You can either offer live if it refuses again, or keep trying f/t until it takes it. If you offer live, keep offering live until you're sure it's eating reliably and then try f/t again.

If you choose to keep trying f/t, offer once every 7 days and monitor weight. If it loses a lot of weight (like 20% for bps idk if that applies to other snakes though), then try other methods.

My bearded dragon. How the hell am I supposed to tell if they're healthy or not? Like he's still very alert but I read something about their eyes being droopy and kidney problems. Also some days he'll eat a ton then randomly the next day he won't eat shit. Also is their poop supposed to smell disgusting? Like the whole room smells within a couple minutes if I don't clean it right away. I was thinking about taking him to the vet this thursday but wasn't sure if I needed to. I actually don't even know if it's a girl or boy. Anyways reply if you know any answers

Your beardie looks fit as a fiddle in that picture, anon. Usually first thing that happens when a lizard is sick is they will stop eating; not for a single day, i'm talking weeks. This will be accompanied by lethargic movement, disinterest in basking, generally curling up in a corner and not moving. Which is then followed by weight loss. Yours skipping a day is perfectly normal nothing to worry about, especially so if the previous day involved a large meal.

Other warning signs; repeated poor sheds (check your temps and humidity), breathing with mouth open, nasal or eye discharge, runny stool/diarrhea, unusual colour of tongue/mouth (google bearded dragon mouth rot). That's about it. Oh, also noticeable kink in tail and curvature of spine indicating possible metabolic bone disease.

Should be fine as long as your UVB lighting is good and bulbs changed out every six months. Vet can do a fecal on the stool and see if there's anything to worry about.

By all means do a check up at the vet to see if there's anything of current concern. Quick check up and fecal exam won't be terribly expensive.

Those eyes look pretty droopy to me, but he looks really healthy otherwise.

The eye droop is supposed to just be a result of dehydration if I remember. A couple of short baths a week, or especially wet vegetables always got mine enough hydration.

It seems like with most reptiles, you have to be sort of proactive with care; they specifically hide evidence of sickness, so you have to pay attention to little things like eye droop, or temperament change and stuff. Vets go straight to the poop since it's one of the only places to get a solid idea of a reptile's state.

Yeah, the 10.0 UVB. The most important part of the basking bulb is really just the cover, make sure it's one of those parabolic ones, and you can use any bulb in there over like 60w or so, as long as the temps are still good.

The temp. of the bath could be too high; touch the water with the back of your hand and make sure it's just warm, not hot. Whenever mine splashes around in a bath, it usually means she feels a shit coming on.

I think he's just dark anon, captive bred beardies are pretty variable in coloration

if anything just double check your temps, lots of lizards darken when they're trying to absorb as much heat as possible, if he's not being lethargic its fine

Any tips on how to treat a leopard gecko with mealworm impaction? I gave him a warm bath today and managed to remove some of pic related, when I picked it apart it seemed to me that most of it consists of undigested chitin from mealworms. With this though, I think a vet visit is in order. You don't know how far that blockage goes up. Gecko may not be able to pass it without surgical help.

In future, make sure your temp on the hot side hot spot is 90-95. Leos should not have issues digesting chitin with sufficient hot side temperature.

I think it's more just a fact of carnivores/insectivores. Tortoise poop smells similar to cow poop, while obviously still not a pleasant smell is better than that of carnivorous reptiles.

So this mushroom is growing in my created gecko viv I have no idea what it is or where it's come from or how a mushroom spore got into his viv, it's next to the glass and it's pretty cool to watch grow (doubled twice in size by this morning) but is it dangerous? Should I throw caution to the wind and remove it anyway or should I accept that I've somewhat succeeded in creating a very small ecosystem?

I have no idea what type of mushroom it is but if you're seeing one mushroom you should probably do a clean out of the whole enclosure since a mushroom is just the fruiting body of a fungus which will have it's mycelium all spread through your substrate so it's just like picking a flower, more mushrooms will keep growing unless you change the substrate.

Same thing happened to my garg's viv earlier this year. Pretty sure the spores came with a package of sphagnum moss i added. Make sure to yank them out when you see them come up. They only live a few days then turn black and die. Have you got any springtails/isopods in your substrate? If not, pick up a culture and toss them in. Fungus be gone.

PAM. I hear it pretty much immediately gets rid of mites in one or two treatments when done correctly. I'd thoroughly research how to properly use it though as it's very easy to use too much or do it incorrectly and kill/injure your snake.

So I did a bit of reading and I believe it's a sphagnurus mushroom which is parasitic to sphagnum and I wouldn't be surprised if it rode along with the sphagnum, either way I figured it hasn't fully grown so I've re-potted the mushroom and I'll see how it goes over the next few days, I'll post back with results.

I had a series of them sprout over a month or so. Pulled all as they appeared. They didn't come back. Yes, springtails feed on fungus. They won't prevent shrooms from sprouting but they will eat them.

They're not harmful. If you have a ton, technically the spores can cause breathing problems for some reptiles. Shouldn't be an issue as long as your enclosure is big enough, plenty of people intentionally grow mushrooms in their herp enclosures cause it looks sweet.

I used PAM on the inside of the tank, an then I picked up some Reptile Spray from petco to actually on my snake.
Got rid of them all in a couple treatments.
I did the PAM treatment once a month for the next couple months just take care of any stragglers or late hatching eggs.
Haven't seen one since.

It's normal for male frogs to be noisy, so having them in your bedroom is not really that pleasant.

I've got a 3 months old retic.

Only ate twice and now has stuck shed that doesnt go away. I've tried warm baths but no result, and is refusing to eat (I assume that is because of that)

I bought it already with the stuck shed, the problem is that his head seems ok, it's just the body that is full of "wrinkles" with air.

I have him now in a "small" rub, 45L, just until he gains a bit of size, with a heat "carpet". Temperatures go from 25º on the cold spot to 33ª on the warmer. Hides at both ends, branches to climb, and water enough to get in or take a bath. Also, I spray him water often.

Is the normal setup for a baby, works and worked fine with every other snake, plus he had the problem before being mine, and what mostly annoys me, his head seams to be ok with no stuck shed, bright and clean eyes and no skin "bubbles".

Just going to say, spraying an enclosure does not provide relative humidity, it provides wetness. You will have to use a bedding that provides humidity and lower ventilation. The bedding should be kept very deep to provide the most humidity, being 1"-2" deep (or 2.5 to 5 centimeters).

Unfortunately, you will not be able to use a deep humid bedding if you're using belly heat. The bedding will be too deep to provide heat, and I've found belly heat set ups cause mold in humid beddings because it can't release its moisture fast enough.

Do you have a way to monitor humidity?

I got my Leo like +- a week ago, when he was preparing to shed. I know they don't take in much food when shedding, however, he has only eaten 2 crickets since I got it, and now that he has it's color back, I thought his appetite would be better.... Give him sometime, geckos are tricky little creatures. Mine won't eat for about a day or two. (I would get a little worried if it was still an infant) If you have trouble feeding it, make it hungry.Be patient, make sure its 90-95(i prefer 92)inside their warm hide. Wait for about a day if it still doesnt want to eat, then give it waxworms. They are filled with fat and small protein so it can last them for about 2 days.

Though be careful waxworms are addicting and they should only be fed to a gecko if they haven't eaten anything and needs to gain weight. Or if their stool is too hard to pass. (dust them in multivitamin and D3 so it will give a bit of nutrition to the gecko)

His warm hide is around 90-92, at night it drops a bit.
He is not an infant, his tail still looks fat and healthy, that's not the problem right now, but I thought after a week and especially after shedding, he would finally eat.
Could it cause a problem that he is in a room with me (but like 5m away), and that my light is on for a while into the night? It's a miracle you got him to eat anything at all.

First of LEo's need time to settle into their new home, which will take a week or more. During this time they most likely won't eat.

On top of that when it's time to shed they usually won't eat for days before, as well as days after. Mine usually won't eat for a week after shedding.

Yeah, I was pretty happy when I saw him eat his first cricket, I thought that would seal the deal with him being shy. Now I've got 2 crickets inside, that I can't get out right now, I hope this won't cause any problems, I don't wanna stress him further for today.
And thanks for the clarification, I thought they'd eat pretty soon after shedding, as shedding is quite exhausting.
I'll get some worms over the next days however, just to make sure. With worms, I only have to open the terrarium to refresh the water once a day, and I don't need to lift any hides.

I would take the crickets out anyway. If they are left in without food they will begin feeding on your leopard gecko.

Regular tank maintenance is fine, it will get your leo used to you. Your leo won't get used to you if he doesn't see you.

You might want to switch to mealworms in a smooth sided dish for a bit until leo is regularly eating. That way you don't have to go cricket hunting when he doesn't want to eat. Or, if you don't mind being a dick to the crickets; put the crickets you wish to feed in a small plastic bag with, grab ahold on one rear leg and break it at the knee, repeat for all crickets. Put those crickets in smooth sided dish. They won't jump if they are missing on jumping leg and will stay in the bowl.

I'm considering getting a leopard gecko which would be my first reptile pet. My brother used to have some when we were kids so I have an idea what to expect, but I'm not sure he cared for them the right way.

Leopard geckos do not require lighting and should not be given it. They absorb heat through their belly, any sort of light would scare them into hiding. Therefore a heatmat is needed to heat the floor on the warm side of the tank.

Get this stuff called excavator clay. You mix it with water, and it turns into this sandy cement. Then you can put natural stone pavers from like, home depot in it while wet. Seat the stone well, then remove the stones before drying.

Once it sets up you will have slots to put your stone in. It's sooo easy to just vaccum up all the debris from the enclosure, and then lift out/remove the stones to scrub if needed.

The excavator clay will dry hard, so you won't have issues with loose substrate and impaction.

As for humidity, if you're in a dry state, you aren't going to have a lot of luck with humidity no matter what you do. Honestly, the best thing to do is wait until your Leo turns ghost white, he is about the shed. You can spray down your aquarium with a mister that day, and the next, till he sheds, and be fine.

If there are bits of skin on the toes, soak him in 1/3 inch of luke warm water. Use an ultra soft bristle brush to gently work away any skin on the toes. If skin is left for more than a few sheds the toes will die and fall off.

Paper towel does well for a quarantine set up, but I'd upgrade as soon as possible once they're out of their 3-6 month quarantine.

You want a bedding that will allow them to use their muscles, they tend to pancake on flat surfaces. So a loose substrate like aspen, cypress mulch, or EcoEarth. Carefresh is another one I see, but I'm not sure how well it does for humidity and you do have to be careful what type you use as there's one that is potentially dangerous.

Stay away from sand, bath towels, corn cobs, compacted pellets, reptile carpet, and astroturf. And any other weird, off-the-wall substrates.

That is a good size for a Dragon. I used carpet grass. I cut 2 pieces the size of the tank that way when I take one out to clean I have the other to put right back in.
Ad a nice stone and a branch for it to climb on.
I take mine out daily and let them run around. There favorite spot to hang out is on the window sill in the sun.

She's now eating guys, finally, took over a week + shedding, thanks.
I just fed her 8 mealworms, next week I'll switch back to crickets. I think she already begins to associate my hand with food, she still looks a bit afraid when I reach in, but at least she does not hide immediately but awaits the food first.

You're making some good progress.

You should start putting your hand in the tank, maybe once a day for 5 minutes or so. This way she will get used to it.

Also a varied diet is best, so feeding both would be great. You should look into starting a mealworm colony, its easy and saves money.

I spent about that on my enclosures, too. The enclosures by themselves with any heating just the wood was about $450 each with wood and doors (maybe). Then I bought 3 thermostats, 2 for about $85 and for $115. Then 2 RHPs for $95 each and 2 CHEs for about $50 each (that's heat lamps and bulbs together). And 2 light fixtures for ~$30 each.

I'm not including the price of polyurethane, sealant, screws, or locks. Which is all pretty cheap together anyways.

Took me maybe 2-3 weeks to build 2 enclosures iirc.

Not easily. Frogs are maybe the most readily persuaded to eat canned insect if you tong feed them. Insectivore geckos can be taught to recognize Repashy grub pie as food.

Best bet for minimal live feeding are day geckos and the new caledonians. All of those do well on mixed MRP and occasional bugs two or three times per month (phoenix worms are best and easiest).

Monitors generally will eat pre-killed mice, meat pieces etc.

Saying "why not just one" is like telling an aquarist "why not just one fish?" Reptiles are more aesthetic than interactive, so you can pretty much have as many as you have space for them without becoming overwhelmed. I spend a grand total of about 5 minutes a day caring for my 5 reptiles (more soon! my gecko just laid her first egg/eggs, unsure how many since I don't want to disturb them too much).

Might be able to convince my husband we need some thai rat snakes soon, too. He likes how small they are.

Well I'd say adding to the family but that just sounds corny. They're all my pets, I don't view them as things, it just doesn't make me sound like I'm anthropomorphising them by using the term collection.

And I don't have just one because each species I own is vastly different from the others, just like different breeds of dogs are different. People don't stick to just one dog or one cat all the time idk why it's such a problem to have multiple snakes. They're all cared for and fed, I got above and beyond most keepers who only give them a bare minimum, and I only get snakes if I already have the means to house them and can afford them, so it's not up to you to tell me to only have one.

If you got him over a week or two, disregard the negativity. I never see my two guys eat their repashy/insects/fruit mush but I have to assume they're doing it because otherwise they'd be dead. Just keep replacing it every day or two even if there's plenty left to keep it from spoiling. I should try out Pangea though, I've heard that geckos seem to prefer it. I tasted their Repashy myself and think it definitely could be a little tastier.

Thanks! He's roughly a year old, definitely older than a year but no more than 2-3 months over a year. I feed him once a week, and I do so so often because he's too small for small rats but too big for an adult mouse to even leave the normal bulge that a snake generally has after feeding. So I feed slightly downsized slightly more often. I figured it was just certain positions, it's just that when I feel him it feels super prominent, but this is my first boa, and I'm just a 'better safe than sorry' kind of guy, especially when it comes to my pets.

It's a boaphile cage, those are usually recommended for a snake of this size. Great cages for their price. Of course, you could make it look a lot prettier, but I doubt my boa cares if there are a bunch of fake plants in his way or not. Simple yet effective.

Almost all the research I did in large snake cages ended up pointing to Boaphile Plastics. Either they have a good marketing scheme, or a lot of snake owners like their stuff. It's given me no issues so far.

My 4 month old is already on a 2 week schedule, but she's growing really rapidly and is getting some padding. She grew almost half a foot in only 2 months, and she's under a year old. They generally grow this fast after they reach a year, so I'm spacing her feedings out from every 10 days to every 10-14.

The extension arrived today and works as advertised. I did find out that the bulb I was using isn't the proper one for the fixture, so I have to run out and get a 60 watt red incandescent tomorrow. I also plan on adding a magnet ledge to the empty side. This will all look lovely when the plants grow in, but it's a bit bare for now.

I decided to just supplement D3+calcium instead of fucking with UVB, since several breeders told me they do this with their day geckos since it's just easier. I still have a UVB CFL but it's sitting on top of the glass being worthless.

BCI stands for Boa Constrictor Imperator, distinguishing it from BCC (boa constrictor constrictor) or "red tail boa" which it is commonly confused with. Both snakes have a max girth larger than the width of their heads. The snake in this post >>1983300 is roughly the expected size of an adult BCI, although I'd say it is a bit on the smaller side. This usually isn't a feeding issue though, snakes naturally vary in their sizes.

Don't worry much about the amount they eat. Small geckos eat teeny tiny amounts of food. You often can't tell they've eaten at all by looking at their food dishes. If they're active and you're finding stool/urates on a regular basis, they're eating.

Yeah, I agree with everything you've said here. Btw, I'm moving my rainbow boas to once every 2 weeks after they hit 200g, I think. I was told by a couple breeders that would be better than a weekly feed.

Well the store is considered reputable, however their main thing is colubrids, and so they "hadn't completely worked out" how to take care of boids. Apparently, if I'd wanted a really good snake from them i would have bought one of their "prize kingsnakes". I wish i had done some more research on them beyond reviews.

Hey /an/, 4 questions about my leo:
1) I've got around 30-ish°C (29.3-31.9) at daytime where I put my thermo probe, it's not exactly under the heat lamp (got an UTH as well, but I wanted to try my the heat lamp for a while). The reason why I stated that it's not under the lamp directly is that none of the hides is under it, they (moist and warm) are a bit away from it, and I have 2 rocks under the light with temps around 40+ °C (to provide the belly heat after he eats in the evening). I guess under the hides the temp reaches around 30-ish °C as well. Is that enough to keep him happy, or should I radically put a hide UNDER the lamp, so that he has a REALLY hot place (and remove the rocks)?
2) Is 21-23 °C fine over night?
3) When I turn off the light, the temp drops really quick (from 30+ to 27-ish), I usually try to feed him 15 minutes before turning off the heat. Is the heat absorbed by the stones enough to provide belly heat? I usually see him lying down with his belly on them for a while after eating.
4) Does it irritate him when I leave my normal light on for more then 12 hours a day? Got him in my room, and I usually work/do stuff until midnight with some lights turned on.

He eats the same amount than back when I used UTH, but I want to make sure that those current temps are okay as well...

i've had 4 green iguanas now. my first one was an asshole squirmy and aggressive.
second one was pretty average. he tolerated you but he wasn't your friend ya know? but i just got these two guys and they have taught me iguanas can love lol.
without a joke they are the tamest coolest bros ever. leash trained and the big guy eve walks at your pace and does this cute little head bobble thing when you stop from a jog.
i lucked out so hard. a freind of my sister had to give these guys up because she got pregnant and i got them, their 7 foot by 5 foot 2 foot deep cage *im building a bigger one in the next year or two big enough for now though, humidifier leashes, food supliments,and 4 different laps all for free.

but i guess their aditude all comes down to individual animals. they usually mellow a little with age but they are smart enough to be difficult if they decide you scare them. if you buy them i would expect them to be aggressive sometimes and if you are lucky they will chill out. if you arnt ready for a difficult one or get a tame adult i would steer clear because they CAN do some damage.

Good tip for iguanas I saw in a youtube video by a breeder was to make sure they have places to hang out that are level or slightly above your head height. I guess it dramatically decreases their stress level to be above any moving stuff in the house/yard. Which is turn keeps any aggressive tendencies down as well.

Yeah after a certain age it's best to move them to a 2 week feeding schedule. Luckily, with BRBs they're perfectly fine eating every 2-3 weeks as adults.

25" is honestly a perfectly fine length for a 6 month old BCI. My 4 month old is only 24", and I doubt she's going to grow much more than 2"-3" by the time she's 6 months. Yearling boas *average* 2.5'-3'. Your boa is not behind by any means if it's 6 months. Feed your boa a mouse that leaves no bulge or a small bulge with no scale separation every 7-10 days, even as much as every 10-14 days. Trust me, it will grow. I've been feeding mine a hopper mouse every 10 days since I got her in July and she's already grown 4", so now she's getting fed every 10-14 days.

6 months sounds like a very reasonable guess anon.

My leopard gecko hasn't pooped in like 5 days.
He's drinking just fine, has ample belly heat, and he was eating fine.
I haven't fed him in a couple days because I wasn't sure if he ate too much if that would be bad.
What should I do? Should I feed him tonight or hold off until he poops?
Not sure if he's just like this or there's an issue, he usually poops like every other or every 2 days

Get a plastic tub, poke holes on the lid, keep a heat pad underneath. Feed them cricket food, water crystals, and oranges. The oranges makes them super horny. Also, make sure that it is humid so they can shed shells. After a year they were pumping out more than my bearded Dragon could eat. Then, he just stopped eating them altogether and I just sold them. Overall, super easy and definitely worth it to do so
