Betta fish mansion.
Pamper the shit out of your betta and you can genuinely impress people who have only seen sad, sick pet store bettas with how active and colorful yours is, especially if you get a nicely bred betta to start with.
You can also add some dwarf african frogs or freshwater shrimp if your betta doesn't like eating them.

No seriously they're interesting as fuck.

You could also get an Arachnid,Hermit crabs or other Insects but they're pretty boring,unless you feed them.

Get another 10 gallon and get one of pic related. Bam. You can keep cresties or whatever day geckos you like in there and put some dart frogs on the bottom.

Right now it's too small for any cool vertebrates, but it's easy and cheap enough to expand it. There's a dollar-per-gallon sale right now at Petco or PetSmart or whatever. I always confuse them.

As long as you can keep it below 74-ish (though cooler would be better, maybe a fan), newts are pretty undemanding. If you think they're interesting, that'd be a good pick. Just make sure the tank is tightly closed so they can't get out.

Unsure, I think they're just held in place by the weight of the tank. It sits on the inner plastic rim of the tank. I'm sure you could silicone it down if you were so inclined.

You could also use plastic nests or ytong nests.

No the alates are gonna die on their own or the colony kills them if they don't mate.

But Solenopsis invicta doesn't do well in captivity,their queens die easily for some reason.

Crested geckos are pretty cool, and maybe a baby corn/milk snake but as it grows you may need to get another tank. There's lots of options, also bugs too, stickbugs and praying mantises are a couple of my faves (do not keep both, mantis will kill stick). There's also a lot of cool frogs, tree frogs, dart frogs, pacman frogs, all cool. You should go to a reptile show to get ideas too.

there used to be this little pet shop on Colfax in Lakewood that had an adult piranha in a 10g. He couldn't even turn around, he was as big as the tank.

I assume they changed the water every day or had his tank on a central water system.

10g arranged vertically is too small for a crested gecko.

You can do a single pictus (paroedura pictus) gecko in a 10 gallon. That's the only common terrestrial gecko that small in the pet trade. There are others but not common or cheap..

ive been waiting for a thread like this for a longtime op! you are in luck!
here we have a ten gallon fish aquarium
the substrate is 75% aquarium pebbles($9) and 20% aspen bedding($4),
i out a water bowl($4), a heat mat(on the botton right side $6), and some junk from the pet store (~$20, i add more all the time)
every six weeks i buy food for about 9 dollars
in this tank i have a california king snake(~$70), its a baby and will stay in the ten gallon tank for about five years before i will move him up to something larger,
i put a lot of tolite paper rolls(he loves those) in there and just random stuff half burried, he is very clean and the tank so far(4months) does not smell, its cool to watch him eat or mess around with him and let him chill on me while i watch tv,
get a baby king snake op

A 220V heat mat isn't going to do me any good, but point taken. If you were interested in cheapness, you could have gotten the pebbles from a home improvement store, but I didn't think they were very good for snakes anyway.

Dogs are different, they eat about every other day, snakes are a completely different animal, they don't need to eat nearly as much, most snakes can go months without eating just fine this is common knowledge

Seriously, why the fuck do assholes still force children to read and write cursive? All through elementary school I was told I would need it in college and adult life. But as soon as I hit middle school and up I was told all my writing had to be printed, not cursive, and I never use it in adult life.

That shit is as archaic as whacking a kid on the hand with a ruler for writing left handed.

i think they can run well for quite a long time if you start with good life rock. this one is almost running 4 years now and very easy to maintain.

It is not that expensive in a small nano scale (20 - 30 l). These are 20 l. You just have to know someone who is willing to give you coral for free.

That seems cheap for a tank like that but otherwise very good for a nano reef. I'm impressed at how well the corals are doing with a lamp like that. Is the bulb made specifically for corals or is it just a household replacement bulb?

you have to add some additional running cost for osmosis water, energy (which is about 20 - 30€ a year) and unexpected stuff.

bulb is the one in picture, made for coral. it is placed 15 cm above the tank and i can grow sps and quadricolor with it. due to small space and water the coral growth is limited.
