My female cockatiel is horny. She is presenting to me with her butt up. I touched her thinking I'd be relieving her , but I think what I did was wrong. Did I just fuck up my cockatiel? Is she going to get risk of egg binding now and get sexually frustrated to the point she rips her feathers out?

I'm thinking I may need to get her a male partner, and just boil the eggs they produce. I don't want babies. I just want my bird to experience what comes natural instead of her being sexually frustrated all the time. Problem is, I know males can be very noisy, and my neighbors won't be too happy about it.

No. I don't really want to contribute to the excess of unwanted pet birds. Not many people are prepared to take care of them.

Maybe only if I am short of money, I could sell them to my local pet shop who takes in house-bred birds and rodents. In general though, I am unwilling to raise chicks in my house.

Beware if she lays many eggs, she has a higher chance of getting egg banned. Perhaps just put a couple fake eggs in her cage as this will keep her from laying more.

It's not good to try to get your bird off because it can lead to them masturbating all the time, or worse, masturbating on you and getting aggressive when you try to stop. Try not to encourage it.

You don't need to over dramatize her laying eggs or getting in heat. With time it'll pass, I once had my female tiel get egg-bound but I took her to the vet and had that situation resolved. But that happened ONCE in the 10 years I had her.

Its not as common as you think it is so don't freak out about it.
