You're in the wrong mindset if you want to get a dog simply to keep people 'away' from you. Any dog breed, even the strong, masculine, and strong 'looking' ones that deter 90% of people, will make some people come up to you. Besides that fact, you'll end up extremely disappointed in the dog when it doesn't meet your expectations. Dogs are attention grabbers. You have to accept that getting a dog will actually just draw more attention to you. I hate people too, but even my ugly mutt gets comments, people asking his name/breed/age, or asking my questions about dogs. You just have to be civil, and not a douche.
