Anyone know what the hell this is? Found it sucking my blood just now and squished it, it was jumping around when I flicked it off me! I have bites all over my one leg and have been trying to find the cause....

I live in South Africa :P Cape Town! And from what I've seen its the only one I've found.... I proceeded to vacuum the entire area I found in it, the lounge, mop, strip couches vacuum couches, wash couches, vacuum carpet and spray the entire area with some bug spray stuff that is supposed to kill fleas and ticks, I've found some weird looking spider and about 50 fish moths but no more blood suckers ....

there aren't any fleas above 10,000 feet in elevation in Colorado.

there is an upper limit beyond which they can't reproduce, that limit dictated by moisture rather than just elevation. They don't survive here. They'll live out their adult lives if you bring them in, but they won't reproduce.

yes, very dry and very high places don't have fleas.

where I live is extremely high and fairly dry. we actually get a fair amount of precipitation but the relative humidity hovers below 10% most of the time.
