>>1983989just to expand because i'm bored, you probably already know that cats use scent to determine a lot of things. what is safe, what is unknown, whose territory they are in, etc. if you take a cat and put it in another cat's territory it will immediately know it is intruding, and obviously the other cat will know of the intrusion. cats are territorial as fuck -- cats will never "meet up and play" in any normal circumstance, and the situation is completely out of left field from an evolutionary standpoint. the domestic cat's ancestors would meet each other only to settle territory disputes, mate, or settle mating disputes. ie. fight or fuck.
cats aren't as removed from their wild ancestry as dogs are, and lack a similar social structure in their background. when you take your cat and put it in another cat's territory, the vast majority of times it is not a pleasant experience for either cat. you might sit around with your tea cups and giggle and anthropomorphosize, but i can almost guarantee you that your cat is not happy.
please don't organize cat "play dates".
