>in generalcan't say, it all comes down to the individual animal's condition and situation
here's the thing, the people who say shit like "no animal should EVER be euthanized" or "you should ALWAYS euthanize them" tend to have no actual experience working with animals in a professional capacity
I work at a shelter that only euthanizes for extreme medical situations or their behavior is too dangerous to rehabilitate. the funny thing is, the people who get the most uppity about this shit are also the most unqualified shits ever. it's easy to bitch at someone else about how they should do something in an idealistic sense when you've never actually done it yourself
>>1984519we had a dog in that was plagued by seizures. over months and months of care and putting her into foster, no amount of vet care could exactly pin down why, the only option left was frequent bloodwork, but doing so would just trigger MORE seizures, which we know were causing brain damage and further deteriorating her motor skills. she was starting to get them multiple times a day and unable to recover between them. she couldn't control her bladder or bowels so was covered in her own shit and piss, screeching, terrified of anyone touching her, couldn't eat/drink/sleep, and would collapse if she tried walking
are you saying we should have left her to slowly die on her own? are you that fucking stupid?
