Anyway, are raccoons dangerous? I went out to pick up my mom only to find this trio following me around.

There were more lurking in the shadows. 6 if I counted correctly.

I noticed that they've incorporated themselves into the hierarchy of cats that inhabit the area too. The cats seem intimidated

Id take more pictures but Im afraid of dying at the hands of a hoard of raccoons

OP here

I forgot to mention that the biggest one, Im assuming Hes the pack leader (assuming they have leaders) was getting the closest. When I was at the door he was maybe 3 feet away. And when he was at a distance he would constantly sit on his hind legs, like pic related, and stare at me.

Is this a racoon challenge or is he just being curious?

No they aren't particularly dangerous to people. They can fuck up cats and dogs, which could result in rabies, so theres an argument to keep your cats inside if you have any.

In the morning just double check that there aren't any ways for them to climb into/under your house.

Curiosity. Raccoons aren't particularly aggressive. The can be when approached, but they shouldn't pursuit you in any way.

Raccoons are pretty terrified of humans, but they know you're a source of delicious food so some are more tolerant
They also hate housepets. Housepets also hate them. They sometimes hold satanic rituals at night so don't be surprised if you hear some demonic gargling while they pray to their heathen gods.

They are also really fucking clever so expect them to find a way into your trash unless you take serious precautions.

They're more a nuisance than anything but they do carry rabies kind of a lot. I was bitten by a rabid raccoon and had to have post exposure treatment when I was eleven because I as a dumb shit who thought it was sick and was trying to help it. It wasn't angry at the time, just slothful and had seizures and it became furious later after I thought we were cool.

Since you're less dumb than that it should be fine, just make sure you keep your cats in.
