Wandering in an abandoned lot. Found what I think is a spine. What animal is it from? Is it human? It was too big to belong to a dog, but too small to belong to cattle.

Hell no. It's in a big city with no farm animals nearby whatsoever. It's an abandoned lot as in its in a residential area, houses were previously there but knocked down years ago, and now it's just a patch of dirt and discarded items.
