My dog is at least 12. I got him in like 2009 and he was at least 6 then. Impeccably trained, could sit, speak, play dead, and was always house trained.
We thought he'd be happy after us having lived in an apartment for 2 years for him to have a yard again, and unlimited outside access. Instead, he's pissed in the house every single night while we sleep since he's been here (He was staying with my mom while we moved, no problems there), barring the nights I've made him sleep outside/in the garage.
He always does it while we sleep. I know he's doing it because he's somehow unhappy. When we had a house with a big yard and a doggy door we never had this problem, even when we lived in apartments and had to walk him 3-5 times a day we didn't have this problem. His bro passed away last December, and we had our second baby in April (he is not a big fan of the kids, although he is begrudgingly protective), and admittedly, we haven't had quite as much time for him, but I thought once we got into the house he would finally be happy again. I brought up to my husband maybe letting him live with my mom and dad. They have a yard, and a nice bitch he's fond of. My husband accused me of trying to get rid of him, but I think he's just not a fan of our breeder lifestyle. He was a lot happier before we had kids. My husband thinks it's mean to make him sleep in his bed in the garage, but I'm tire of stepping in a piss puddle in my home every morning.
Do you guys have any advice?
My kids don't mess with him, but I'm sure he's very aware that they've taken a lot of the focus of the household.
