I own a Chihuahua myself and it doesn't need more veterinarian care than other dogs.
He is very healthy. He only had one operation for cherry eye, but that can happen to any dog.
I don't 100% believe in the all pure bred dogs are more unhealthy, i think it depends on the owner, and how good care he/she takes of her dog
