Most kenjutsu training was passed from one person to another orally or by demonstration, there weren't that many books, historical ones at least, like the medieval treatises Europe has.
Plus, most of the writings are esoteric stuff, meaning that without knowing about the system already, it's hard to correctly decipher the inner meanings. It wasn't to pose as a 2deep4u badass teachers, just to prevent other schools to steal your specific technics, like say industrial secrets.

On top of >>741378 suggestions, you have Yagyu Munenori's "Heiho Kadensho" (Hereditary teachings / life-giving-sword), which is fairly spiritual and esoteric too.

Another problem is that scrolls and documents on techniques were usually given only to people already committed to the school and usually were not to be revealed to outsiders. So there are some "treatise" like objects, but you'll probably not see them if you aren't in a japanese kenjutsu school...

If you want a more modern treatise you might want to check out "The Spirit of the Sword" by Nakamura Taisaburo. Taisburo taught swordsmanship in the Japanese army during WWII and later synthesized his knowledge into his own style.

Its not the same as koryu but he has pictures of pretty much all his stuff and he discusses his ideas and philosophy on swordsmanship.

As pointed out, Fiore has some, especially when he used the scabbard to bind the attacking arm of his opponent while drawing and then he thrusts.
Talhoffer has some messer play that can be done weapon in the scabbard too.

But then it's nothing as extensive as in the japanese styles where you can have dozens of iai-like techniques. Well... european walls weren't made of paper too.

What do you guys carry your equipment in? I've seen some purpose-built bags on offer, but they seem to be either kinda crap or more than I'd like to pay.

I've heard generally about people using snowboard or fishing bags, but never the specifics. I'm currently looking at these as possible options:

In my group, we have purpose-built bags, golfing bags, hiking backpacks...I just throw everything in the trunk of my car and drive it to where I need it. Since we only do Blossfechten with the long sword, we don't really have a lot of bulky stuff, and pretty much anything works.

If you want a real decent kit, be prepared to spend at least $500 a per piece.

That suit is the armour equivalent of a wallhanger.

I think I've heard that http://www.bestarmour.com/ is a decent budget maker. Say 3000EUR for a full suit there if you go for the cheap options (so not high gothic or full maximilian style), then you'll need the arming doublet and stuff on top of that, which is probably a few hundred more (no idea really), and finally an ok sword with scabbard and belt say 400EUR.

So if you're ok with some sacrifices here and there in regards to authenticity, perfect fit, etc you might be able to get away with 4000EUR/4500USD. This is a very rough estimate though, I've never shopped for armour myself.

Can you post at least a few titles?
In defence of my opinion, you can look at the studies of Roland Warzecha (Dimicator on Facebook). You can go on the website manuscripts&miniatures (a huge collection of medieval manuscripts), and you can see by yourself shields aren't plain.

From what you've said so far you have no 'defence' you're claiming that all period shields were curved, which is just plainly wrong. Yes shields that curved were popular and more so in larger, more tower like shield and combat role shields that were used essentially as walls.
