There are "Jabs", "Hooks", "Straights", etc. This technique is squaring up with your opponent, taking a wide stance, and throwing left and right hooks while slowly walking forward. Ideally the motion of stepping and punching should give you a distinctive bobbing or rolling motion.
It's weaknesses are that your head and the center of your torso are hella exposed, and if the other guy knows what he's doing he'll be able to predict where your head is going to be fairly easily, which is why it's not used so often. You generally only want to use it when you've made the other guy too afraid to throw a punch for fear of getting hit, because it'll put them on the defensive and back them up towards the ropes. So it's generally not used at higher levels because most people with experience either know how to counter it or aren't afraid to throw punches no matter what the situation is.
