>>747742>How do I counter a shoulder throw? There are many differnt ways, it all depends on the situation. If the other guy is very slow, you can step over his leg like this guy said:
>>747749But most of the time this won't work. Other options are:
You can "check" his hip with your hip or you can use your free hand to create some distance to Tori's hip. Or you can "jump into" the throw, doing a quick rotation arround him to get away from his hip, or you can move in the other direction (against the throw) so he can't load you on his hip.. The possibilities are endless.
It's best to learn proper techniques first, the answers will come, but generally there are no "sercret counter moves" or stuff that works all the time. It's best to just ask you sensei about that.
>I like going for the outer reap - but my opponents stucks out his ass and lowers his weight, what move should I do?Beginners often try to block many throws with this "bowing position", but it's very defensive and you can't attack very well from it. So try to stand up tall.
And especially if you are a beginner, don't try to think "On no, he mustn't throw me", just try your throws and let him have his throws, so you both learn. You'll see, if you let yourself get thrown he'll do the same and you both will get better instead of just jostling arround without techqniue..
Now to your question:
You reach over his shoulder, grab his belt, put weight on his shoulder and do your O Soto Gari.

I don't want to sound like an asshole, but I remember when I hit my first O Soto Gari in Randori. I felt like the greatest Judoka ever. Some months later I realized I had a very bad technique and he was just nice and didn't even try to even throw me..
