>>649257954>>649259027I started going 70mph on a street connecting to a highway on-ramp. I was immediately pulled over by a sheriff who came out of nowhere. He came up to the car. Already had my window rolled down and didn't even let him get a word in before I said, "I know why you pulled me over" and said that I'd started accelerating far too early.
He took my license and other documents, went back to his car, and told me to do that again. Didn't even write me a warning.
On another occasion, I got pulled over going 20mph over in a 45 after getting off the highway. Told the officer that I work as a delivery driver, am used to aggressive driving, and recognized that I fucked up and was in a rush to get to class. I told him that I was on my parents' car insurance policy and couldn't afford getting kicked off and having to get my own (I was 18). He gave me a ticket but told me to contest it in court and that he'd have the judge issue me a ticket for a smaller fine that wouldn't result in any points or insurance penalties. He kept his word.
I've since stopped speeding unless I'm desperately late for something. Usually you don't make up for much time and I'd rather not pay a big ticket. Last time I got pulled over was for a burned out headlight. Told the officer it had happened earlier in the day (that was true). He was pretty chill, helped me figure out which bulb I'd have to replace, and sent me on my way.
I'm sure that some cops are douches but I've never been treated unfairly by them, even if their main purpose seems to be collecting money for cities and the state.
